Spring Field Trip: Govan

On Thursday the 9th of April, we’ll be exploring the rich industrial heritage of sunny Govan! The day will begin with a tour and letterpress printing taster session at Glasgow Press, delivered by Letterspace CIC. In the afternoon, we’ll take a guided walk along the waterfront before heading to Fairfield for a tour led by Fairfield volunteers. Your Society’s annual “Burns Doo” will be held on Saturday 31 January 2026 in Beechwood Scout Hall, Newhouse, Stirling, FK7 9HQ, commencing at 11:00 AM, ending at 3pm. Lunch is provided. Our Industrial Archaeology conference took place in Caithness in June 2018 in partnership with Historic Scotland Engine Shed  and SVBWG . The full information and programme is at SIHS events The lecture day was Saturday 23 June, International Women in Engineering Day, (Saturday Wick programme ) followed by a series of visits in Orkney and Caithness, that were officially badged as marking “European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018”, the common theme in June being urban infrastructure.
