The updated programme for the presentations is now available here, by clicking the above heading. Such is the high level of demand by speakers that the organisers were obliged to enlarge the “Highland Market Place”, which is in Wick Baptist Church, allowing for short presentations about industrial heritage in Caithness and Sutherland. Local and national groups may also put on displays by first contacting the organisers. This reduces the afternoon tours from two to one slightly longer tour from a choice of four, either taking in the Telford Trail in Pulteneytown, Wick Heritage in Lower Pulteneytown, old Wick north of the river, or Old Pulteney distillery and the Ropewalks in Upper Pulteneytown. A minibus by courtesy of Pulteneytown Church of Scotland will help the two tours that go the furthest distances, but the majority of the experience will be on foot. They start from and return to Wick Baptist Church. Warm thanks go to the sponsors, most of which are local businesses. Sponsorship allows us to extend the day rate for students to apply to morning lunch and afternoon for £10, bookable in advance or paid on the day.
The evening meal needs to be booked in advance, price £29. At this we are honoured to have as our guests Lord and Lady Thurso. We hope to hear then from Lord Thurso, Chair of VisitScotland, something about the new “Scotland is now” campaign.
